Saturday 9 June saw York Pride carried its carnival of colours through the city and down to the Knavesmire for a family friendly, day of celebrations, uniting people together in the spirit of goodwill and unspoken compassion and understanding, a vision we hope will also be embodied by 14th annual York 50+ Festival.
This year’s York 50+ festival, is calling on the city’s faith groups to open their doors and find ways of reaching out to people of all ages and all faiths, suffering with loneliness and isolation. We are asking you to think about whether you can put on an event large or small, as part of the 2018 York 50+ Festival. Past events have ranged from line dancing, to coffee mornings, to craft workshops, to racket sports and educational presentations and talks, performances and concerts. Whatever it is that you choose to put on, it will positively contributed to our vision of united Festival of compassion and understanding.
Whether your part of a church, community group, charity, voluntary organisation, educational establishment, activity facilitator or anything in between, now is your opportunity to think creatively about how to get involved with the York 50+ Festival.
On this note the York 50+ Festival team want to let everybody know that if you would like to put an event in the Festival programme, the deadline is Saturday 7 of July. You just need to complete the event form which can be downloaded from www.yorkassembly.org.uk/y1/Festival/ or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for a copy by Email or post and send in £5 per organiser to help with the cost of printing of the programmes.
So, don’t miss out on your chance to be part of the Festival’s amazing legacy. Get planning your York 50+ Festival events now!
