Fixed term for a maximum of 24 months
£25,672 per annum (pro-rata)
Based at York CVS, 15 Priory Street, York

Growing Green Spaces is a project, designed to encourage volunteering in some of York’s open spaces and parks. It began in summer 2017 and has been funded again by City of York Council. Using a small grants programme, work will be designed to maintain and develop the horticultural and visual quality of the selected sites, complementing activities undertaken by Council staff. Attention will also be paid to promoting the mix and diversity of volunteers, as well as focussing on biodiversity and skills development for volunteers.

We are now recruiting a Coordinator to develop the second phase of Growing Green Spaces.

The successful candidate will have experience of project management and coordination, working with volunteers and community development. They will also have an interest in the potential of green spaces and parks in York’s civic life.

Relief Childcare Practitioner

£8.75 per hour (Living Wage Foundation)

 We have a vacancy for a highly experienced Childcare Practitioner at our nursery; based at the Priory Street Centre, located in York City Centre. The suitable candidate will be qualified to Level 2 or above with at least one years’ experience of working in a childcare setting.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • be reliable, flexible, and able to work cooperatively with the whole staff team.
  • demonstrate best practice, initiative and creativity, ensuring a high standard of quality childcare and education at all times.
  • interact effectively with all the children through play, teaching and learning experiences.
  • have experience in offering children opportunities and experiences to enhance their learning and development
  • monitor children’s progress and track their development.
  • work in positive partnership with nursery children, their families and outside agencies

With the departure of several trustees in the Autumn, we are seeking to re-establish our board.

Skills and experience

  • VCSE understanding, experience and commitment
  • Professional HR or legal experience

The roles

  • Provide strategic support and challenge to York CVS as it develops over the next 5 years
  • This will involve 4 board meetings and an AGM each year, with other opportunities for involvement, including leading a specific area of activity


As a trustee you will have opportunity to:

  • Contribute to strategic decisions about York’s VCSE and York CVS
  • Network with and learn from senior professionals and VCSE leaders
  • Influence the development of innovative and important work
  • Tackle some of the intractable challenges that York faces, as well as helping to maximise its potential
