Organisation Name: Wensleydale Railway
Leeming Bar Station
Arts / Culture / Heritage / Museums
Location of Voluntary Activity:
Close to York
Lots of roles available - all with training, tracking and support for CVs, CPD and Higher Education applications - in our retail and catering facilities and in the Leeming Bar Station House (NHLF) regeneration project. We're also looking for a part-time manager of the shop and tea room who can plan strategy, manage stock, provide customer service and manage other volunteers. (Experience not required but valued.) This would suit anyone wanting a career in retail or catering, those looking for CPD or anyone who is retired and fancies a new journey.
Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
All training will be provided so if you want to use existing skills and improve them or you want to learn new ones, we can help you to help us bring our visitors back to 1925.
Will there be a DBS check? Yes
Driving Licence required? No
Volunteer's own vehicle required? No
What will the volunteer gain/benefit from:
We aim to provide an inclusive experience which values the volunteer's crucial role within our organisation and celebrates their contribution to keeping our heritage alive. You can join us at any age to enjoy being a part of our railway community. We'd also like to help you expand your skills base so that your experience can be valuable and useful in UCAS or job applications or as CPD. You don't have to stay in one area of the organisation - you can commit as much time as you like to enjoying as many aspects of volunteering with us as you want to, all full-supported. We can also offer help with transport to the site to those on low incomes.
When are volunteers needed: We need the tea room and shop manager onboard as soon as possible (it only needs to be one day a week) so that we can get everything ready for our April opening.
How to get involved:
