The Yorsensory Outreach Mobile Unit is an extension of the Hub facility based at our Huntington headquarters, and has the same high-tech equipment and facilities. The new Outreach Mobile Unit enables the Trust to provide Yorsensory services, including sight and hearing assessments, to communities around York and North Yorkshire. At the heart of the Yorsensory Outreach Mobile Unit Service is a desire to work with partners and offer services to communities, who may find it difficult to access services.
We are looking for volunteers to drive the Outreach van to areas in York and North Yorkshire who will; ensure safety standards are met, assist with setting up the van for working with the public and be prepared to explain the purpose of the van if approached by member of the public; and remain with the van during visits.
This role enables the organisation to reach more people, including hard to reach communities and rural locations, and provide important information and support regarding sight and hearing loss in the places which people live. It also raises the profile of the Trust and the work which we do.
Location: York | Organisation: The Wilberforce Trust
Volunteering for the Wilberforce Trust gives; a chance to meet new people; to develop new skills; gain experience and knowledge; to be respected and valued for your involvement; the satisfaction of helping others; and valuable use of your spare time. You will also gain insight into the third sector and a small local charity, and training and support from staff. All outreach van driver volunteers will receive Sensory Awareness and First Aid training, and ongoing support and supervision. We also encourage volunteers to suggest fundraising and event ideas if you have specific interests and ideas which we can support, and to get involved with the planning and running of events if that is something you are interested in. We will also provide a reference.
