Role description:
Move Mates are primarily walking buddies although occasionally we have a request for runners too.

Are you compassionate, a good communicator and empathetic to people from all walks of life? This could be for you!

You will be paired with a person who needs help to get out and about. You will meet at their front door and accompany them wherever they want to go. This could be a one-off to get to an activity or event, or it could be a weekly walk. We will pair you with someone based on your availability.

To do this role you will need to undertake a DBS check, provide a character reference and undertake some self-led training which includes adult safeguarding and mental health awareness. We ask volunteers to give a minimum three month commitment to be a Move Mate.

Skills and behaviours needed for the role:
Being a Move Mate is a great way to volunteer and get active yourself. This volunteering role is ideal for you if you are compassionate, friendly, committed and able to talk to people from all walks of life.

When are volunteers needed: We ask that you are able to commit to a regular walk of around an hour. Most of the time our beneficiaries like to walk once a week.
