As part of Small Charities Week, which runs from 14 – 19 June, Wednesday 16 June is Policy Day, hosted by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).

‘Small charities are the centre of Civil Society. In the UK 97% of charities have an annual turnover of less than £1 million, but in terms of impact on local communities here and across the globe their contribution is phenomenal.’ – NCVO

VCSE Sector Forums

Here at York CVS, we want to ensure York’s voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector’s voice is heard, listened to and instrumental in bringing about change within our communities. Our VCSE sector forums are open events that focus on discussing topic-specific issues that impact people living in York. We bring the sector together to work in partnership to share best practice and sector developments, tackle inequalities, and to positively influence strategic decision making.

Our latest VCSE forum looked focused on the changes taking place in health and care across the Humber, Coast and Vale area, and specifically in York. The Humber, Coast and Vale strategic partnership covers North Yorkshire, York, the East Riding, Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, and brings together existing commissioners and providers of health and care with a view to transforming how services are designed and delivered to achieve better outcomes for local populations. This is being delivered at system, place and neighbourhood level. In York, we have the newly formed Health and Care Alliance which is taking this work forward.

The VCSE is viewed as an integral strategic and delivery partner in all of the work being developed. This is demonstrated through the VCSE Leadership Group who are working hard to position the sector at the heart of this reform. You can view the presentation again below:
