Volunteer Yorsensory Outreach Van Driver

We do this through our supported living accommodation, low vision clinic, visual awareness training, sensory awareness sessions, and activities within the living and learning zone. Our mission is to be a leading provider of high quality support, training and care services, to create opportunities for people with sight loss, including those with other disabilities, and to encourage and facilitate the development of these on a local, regional and national basis by being a model of good practice. Our aim is to do this in a way which enhances the quality of life of those we work with. The Volunteer Yorsensory Outreach Van Driver role involves: The Yorsensory Outreach Mobile Unit is an extension of the Hub facility based at our Huntington headquarters, and has the same high-tech equipment and facilities. The new Outreach Mobile Unit enables the Trust to provide Yorsensory services, including sight and hearing assessments, to communities around York and North Yorkshire. At the heart of the Yorsensory Outreach Mobile Unit Service is a desire to work with partners and offer services to communities, who may find it difficult to access services. We are looking for volunteers to drive the Outreach van to areas in York and North Yorkshire who will: ensure safety standards are met; assist with setting up the van for working with the public and be prepared to explain the purpose of the van if approached by member of the public; and remain with the van during visits. By volunteering with the Wilberforce Trust you will; gain insight into the third sector and a small, local charity; have the opportunity to gain skills in administration; develop communication skills; receive training and support from staff. You will need: some spare time; an open and friendly nature; good communication skills; an interest in helping people with sensory loss and disabilities; good organisation; full driving license with category B addition; and be comfortable driving a large van.
