We are delighted to have been awarded grant funding from Pavers Foundation to further develop our work supporting people with mental health needs in York and neighbouring areas. As a result of this grant, we are recruiting a Mental Health Project Worker to work alongside our Service Manager for a 9 month fixed term period, to work specifically on an exciting new project to support shared lives carers interested in taking on new referrals in the mental health field. The project worker will develop and deliver a Mental Health Learning Resource toolkit, aimed at increasing our Shared Lives Carers’ skills and knowledge around positive mental health.

We are an award winning social care charity with 25 years’ experience of providing support to adults with support needs both out in the community and within their own homes. Our successful and well-established Shared Lives service provides accommodation within a family environment, either long or short term, for respite or for day services, helping towards achieving and maintaining an independent lifestyle.

For the duration of this project, you will be responsible for:
Working alongside Shared Lives Service Managers in York to develop the service
Producing a suite of Mental Health Learning Resources, equipping existing carers to be confident in providing support to promote positive mental health
Developing a group of Shared Lives champions who are ‘ambassadors of lived experience’, to promote awareness and support for this model of care
Raising awareness and understanding of Shared Lives with specialist commissioners, mental health user groups and advice agencies

You will need excellent IT and presentation skills and be able to travel independently within the locality. You will also need to be able to work flexibly as some meetings may take place outside of office hours.

In return you will have access to our award winning specialist training programmes to further develop your skills and knowledge, and a generous benefits package including discounts at high street retailers and an employee assistance scheme.
