Personal Shopper

Age UK York is an independent local charity. We've been working in the local community to help older people for nearly 50 years. We have 100 dedicated staff and over 400 volunteers helping us to deliver services and activities for older people in York. The role of personal shopper is to support older people with their shopping. Some clients will have dementia or similar conditions. Benefits £8.18 per hour Flexible hours and weekly shifts assigned in advance Holidays are paid in accrual each month. Full training and ongoing support provided Mileage paid at 45p a mile. Day to Day • Collecting a list from the persons home • Assisting the client to make their own shopping list • Putting shopping away • Collecting money from the client for the shop • Can include collect a ‘click and collect’ orders from the supermarket • and ensuring their wellbeing. Person specification • Have a good understanding of the needs of older people is desirable • A willingness to learn • Be able to communicate well with people at all levels and in all mediums. • A full driving licence and access to a car when working is essential. • A basic level of IT literacy is desirable although not essential.
