One to One Volunteer Mentor

A local children's charity based in York, The Island is currently looking to recruit some more one to one volunteer mentors, who will be able to support an isolated child living in York. As a one to one volunteer mentor, you'll work with a child who needs help to transform their mental, emotional and social wellbeing. During the one year programme, you will meet with your mentee regularly to offer them support as well as help them to develop long-term resilience levels. You will build up your relationship with your mentee through recreational activities and help them find solutions to their problems so that they can take positive steps forward within their lives. No experience is necessary, as you will receive full training in your role. Once you have completed your training, you will receive a recognised qualification. In addition to this, you will also be given the opportunity to sign up for several fully funded qualifications which will provide you with the opportunity to explore social and youth work in greater detail.
