Group Based Mentor

A local children's charity based in York, The Island is currently looking to recruit some more group based mentors, who will be able to support isolated children living in York.

As a group based mentor, you'll work alongside our youth group co-ordinator to help transform the mental, emotional and social wellbeing of the children currently part of our group activities.

As a weekly group session (term-time only), you will work as part of a team to provide recreational activities which will offer the children with the opportunity to develop their confidence and self-esteem in a safe and secure environment. You will build relationships with the children so that you are able to help them overcome difficulties in their lives so that they can take positive steps forward within their lives.

No experience is necessary, as you will receive full training in your role (we would like at least a six-month commitment from all group based mentors). Once you have completed your training, you will receive a recognised qualification. In addition to this, you will also be given the opportunity to sign up for several fully funded qualifications which will provide you with the opportunity to explore social and youth work in greater detail.
