Deaf Volunteers / Mentors

This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, supportive and well-motivated person to join the Lollipop team. We are a York-based charity that offers social and emotional support to children, young people and their families with any degree of deafness from mild to profound.

We offer free weekend activities for members aged 0-25 in York and North Yorkshire. This provides a deaf peer group to help build confidence and self-esteem and promote a sense of belonging. Mentoring (in groups or one-to-one) forms part of this provision.

We are seeking volunteers with any degree of deafness to act as positive deaf role models for our junior and youth members to help inspire them and prepare them for adult life. Enthusiasm, dependability and a willingness to be flexible required. Knowledge of BSL and/or experience of working with young people with additional needs desirable but not essential.

If you would like to work with our members to help them reach their full potential
this could be the perfect volunteer role for you.
