Last year’s floods caused distress and disruption in much of York. Parts of the city are still recovering. York CVS is holding a meeting on April 8 to discuss how, working with others, the voluntary sector can prepare effectively to cope with future emergencies.
This free event will feature seminars and workshops covering topics such as: crisis communications; managing, supporting and organising volunteers; necessary advice; and how we can make donations reach those who need them, quickly. Organisations involved in the event include:
- City of York Council
- Two Ridings Community Foundation
- Emergency Planning College
- North Yorkshire Resilience Forum
However, the key contributions will come from volunteers and their organisations. By hearing stories from volunteers and those affected by the floods, York CVS plan to become ready for anything.
Come along and tell us what you think and what we ought to be focussing on! We need your ideas.
