Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, we are running a series of free training courses for York’s voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, alongside our regular voluntary sector forums.

Voluntary Sector Forums

Our voluntary sector forums are open events that focus on discussing topic-specific issues that impact people living in York. We bring the sector together to work in partnership to share best practice and sector developments, tackle inequalities, and to positively influence strategic decision making.

Devolution Briefing and Q&A - 3 November

3 November, 10:00 – 11:00, Online

The Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Communities, and officers from City of York Council will give a brief presentation to update attendees on the latest devolution discussions, including the possibility of local government reorganisation. There will also be an opportunity to for members of the VCSE sector to ask any questions about the proposals.

Use of the NHS Volunteer Responders service in York has been relatively low. We have invited a member of the NHS Volunteer Responders Team to provide an information session to gain a better understanding of how the service works and how VCSE sector organisations in York can refer people in to the service.

Energy Management and Mindfulness - 12 November

12 November, 10:00 – 12:00, Online

This session is designed to provide you with techniques and strategies that you can use to prevent fatigue and to look after your mental health. The training session is suitable for staff and volunteers in the VCSE sector.

Anti-Racist Training - 19 November

19 November, 10:00 – 11:00, Online

This workshop is aimed to provide the skills and confidence to challenge racism from an individual perspective, in work and in other areas of your life. It includes activities to challenge your unconscious bias, has case studies and also raises awareness of the relevant legislation – to address racism both in relation to discrimination and hate crime.
