Terms and
Conditions
All
conditions relating to the granting of the Centre’s Public
Entertainment Licence, Stage Play or other licences shall be
strictly observed. Nothing shall be done which will endanger
the users of the building and the policies of insurance
relating to it and its contents. In particular:
- Obstructions
must not be placed in gangways or exits, nor in front of
emergency exits, which must be immediately available for
free public egress.
- The
emergency lighting supply must be turned on during the
whole time the premises are occupied, and must illuminate
all exit signs and routes.
- Fire
fighting apparatus shall be kept in its proper place and
only used for its intended purpose.
- The
Fire Brigade shall be called to any outbreak of fire,
however slight, and details of the occurrence shall be
given to Priory Street Centre Manager.
- No
activities involving danger to members of the public are
permitted.
- No
highly flammable substances shall be brought onto the
premises. No internal decorations of a combustible nature
(e.g. polystyrene, cotton, etc) shall be undertaken or
erected without the consent of York CVS.
- No
unauthorised heating equipment should be used on the
premises.
- York
Priory Street Centre Manager shall be notified of any
accident or injury occurring in the building.
- All
electrical equipment shall comply with the Electricity at
Work regulations 1989. York CVS disclaims responsibility
for all claims and costs arising out of non-standard
equipment.
- YOU
MUST NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM CAPACITY FOR THE BUILDING

Bookings
are provisional until confirmed in writing – 50% deposit is
payable in advance by new clients and for conference bookings
over £150.00. Hirers must state the number of participants
and the purpose of the event, which must meet the charitable
objectives of York Council for Voluntary Service. All bookings
are at the discretion of York CVS.
- The
hirer or person in charge must be over 18 and shall be on
the premises for the entire period of hire or duration of
activity. The person in charge should not be engaged in
any activity that prevents them from exercising effective
supervision. When the premises or any part of them are
used for the purpose of public entertainment, there shall
be a minimum of two persons, neither of them less than 18
years of age, on duty.
- All
persons in charge or on duty shall have been informed of
the procedure for evacuation of the premises and shall be
familiar with the fire fighting equipment available.
- No
intoxicating liquors are permitted to be bought or sold on
any part of the premises without the express permission of
Priory Street Centre Management, whose consent must be
obtained prior to seeking any Occasional Licence or
Permission for the sale of alcoholic liquor.
- BETTING,
GAMING AND LOTTERIES
- Nothing
shall be done in relation to the premises in contravention
to the law relating to betting, gaming and lotteries, and
the persons responsible for functions held in the Centre
shall ensure that the requirements of the relevant
legislation are strictly observed.
- It
is the responsibility of any independent user group which
uses recorded music in its activities to check if it
requires a licence from Phonographic Performances Ltd. (PPL)
and if so, obtain one.
- No
equipment or materials may be stored on the premises prior
to or after the hire period without permission from York
CVS.
- Litter
shall not be left in or about the Centre premises.
- Except
in the case of trained guide-dogs or other working animals
used to assist disabled people, animals shall only be
permitted on the premises by permission of York CVS.
Hirers
and organisers of events are responsible for ensuring that the
noise level of their functions is not such as to interfere
with other activities within the building nor to cause
inconvenience for the occupiers of nearby houses and property
