every aspect of voluntary activity. If you need information about, for
example, charity registration or law, constitutional matters, funding,
government policy, good practice in working with volunteers, or any
number of other similar issues, then contact York CVS on 01904 621133
or yorkcvs@yorkcvs.org.uk
and our reception staff will find the right member of staff to help
with your enquiry.
Other sources of information offered by York CVS include:
A resource library, which has voluntary sector journals &
newsletters, good practice guide, leaflets about other voluntary
groups, and books which can be borrowed or read in the library, as
well as a publicly available computer with Internet access.
The CVS newsletter, Voluntary Voice, published ten times per year,
offers a wide range of local and national news and information.
The Citizen's
Guide, produced in partnership with Yorkshire Evening Press, which
includes a complete listing of all voluntary groups in York known to
the CVS.
York CVS can offer
help to groups experiencing a range of difficulties, through
short-term consultancy and 'trouble shooting'. The issues involved may
include:
Help for new groups with 'how to do it', and help in making the
transition from a small group of people with an idea into an
organisation with a recognised structure.
Help for established groups who are struggling with policy development
or problems such as clashes between management committee and paid
staff or volunteers, questions of membership and accountability, or
difficult staff situations such as redundancy or grievance procedures.
Help with grant aid applications, through information, advice and the
supply of grant aid forms on disk.
