Representation

Many local decision-making arrangements, especially those built on partnerships between different organisations, include voluntary sector representatives.

The nature of the voluntary sector, with a very large number of small organisations, means that many organisations find it hard to participate directly in local policy discussions and decision-making. York CVS aims to support organisations to participate through:

Voluntary sector networks  – providing places where organisations can meet together to discuss issues of shared concern.

Supporting representation – so that voluntary sector representatives on partnership boards can communicate effectively with those they represent, and speak confidently on their behalf.

Pages are being developed that will provide more information about voluntary sector representation on local partnerships, and reports of the meetings they have attended.

In the meantime, for further information please contact sue.bradley@yorkcvs.org.uk at York CVS.
