York CVS strives
to ensure that voluntary groups are involved in local and
national consultation processes whenever possible. The CVS
never speaks on behalf of the 'voluntary sector' but aims to
encourage participation and is willing to collate views on
topical issues to feed back to relevant authorities. This is
done through:
Lunchtime Forums - informal meetings held on a monthly basis
on topics of relevance to voluntary groups. They aim to
stimulate discussion and encourage people to meet up with
colleagues from both voluntary and statutory agencies. For
details of upcoming meetings, visit NEWS
Meetings of the
CVS Council - These are more formal consultation meetings of
affiliated members of the CVS, called as required to discuss
major issues of relevance to local voluntary groups. As a
result of CVS Council meetings, the CVS may prepare a response
to a consultation document.
York CVS has also worked with City of York Council to
establish a local Compact that outlines the Council's approach
to voluntary groups in the City.
