Priory Street Centre has been developed by York Council for Voluntary Service to meet the needs of the not-for-profit sector. We offer affordable, good quality rooms in a City where such accommodation is hard to find. The Centre has been a popular venue for local community activities for many years and with the support of organisations like yours, we are confident that we can become a community venue of national significance.

Main Hall
The Main Hall (18.2m x 9.3m) is suitable for large conferences and other events seating up to 175 persons, and has a sprung wooden floor, good quality PA and movable screens. The PA system has a handheld radio microphone, tie clip and hardwired microphone system. There is ceiling mounted data projection system with an interactive touch screen lectern, capable of running video, music CDs, ipod and portable media players, DVDs and laptop presentations. The room benefits from natural light and all rooms include flip charts, TV/videos and OHPs included in the hire charge.

The Denham Room (11m x 6.2m) is carpeted and has good acoustics. It is ideal for boardroom style meetings or training events. The room is furnished with folding tables, comfortable chairs and conference/training equipment which includes a ceiling mounted data projection system and interactive digital whiteboard that is capable of running video, music CDs, ipod and portable media players, DVDs and laptop presentations. All rooms include flip charts, TV/videos and OHPs included in the hire charge. There is a fair trade vending machine with tea/coffee/hot chocolate in the room itself.

The Clementhorpe Room (56 m2) is ideal for boardroom meetings and workshop events seating up to 25 persons. The room is carpeted with good natural light a
nd is furnished with boardroom tables, comfortable chairs and conference/training equipment, including a ceiling mounted data projection system and interactive digital whiteboard, which is capable of running video, music CDs, ipod and portable media players, DVDs and laptop presentations.  All rooms include flip charts, TV/videos and OHPs included in the hire charge. There is a fair trade vending machine with tea/coffee/hot chocolate in the room itself.

The Foxwood Room (20 m2) is ideal for small formal boardroom meetings seating up to 10 persons. The room is carpeted a
nd furnished with wooden tables, comfortable chairs and conference/training equipment, including a flip chart, TV/video and OHP. There is a vending machine with tea/coffee/hot chocolate in the room itself.

Micklegate Room

The Micklegate Room (5.1m x 5.2m) has a bright and comfortable feel and is ideal for small or less formal meetings. The room seats 15 – 20 people and is equipped with the usual  facilities. Unfortunately, this room is only available Monday – Friday during office hours.

Conference Toolkit

Each room is equipped with a conference toolkit, containing everything you’ll need. We can also supply high quality name badges, making it easy for you to identify conference delegates. Please contact us in advance. Priory Street Centre can provide photocopying, laminating and other office services at a low cost. Please note that the main hall has a three phase power supply which can support theatrical lighting.  

Accessibility

Priory Street Centre has car parking for blue badge holders, ramped wheelchair access, automatic doors, accessible toilets and lifts to all upper floors. The centre has a hearing loop system in each meeting room. We can also provide individual hand held loop equipment, visual aids such as page magnifiers, adjustable or supported seating and most of our conference audio visual can be altered to suit the needs of wheelchair users. The meeting rooms are signposted using high visibility and/or braille signs and we can provide dog bowls for working animals on request. If you require BSL or other language interpreters then please get in touch. We can also usually arrange Braille document transfer for your event and all of our conference laptop equipment can be customised to meet the needs of visually impaired users.
