voluntary groups, and books which can be borrowed or read in
the library.
The CVS newsletter, Voluntary Voice, published ten times per
year, offers a wide range of local and national news and
information. Available free to CVS affiliates or by

Evening Press includes a complete listing of all voluntary
groups in York known to the CVS. Updated annually.
Support for
Voluntary Groups
York CVS can offer
help to groups experiencing a range of difficulties, through
short term consultancy and 'trouble shooting'. The issues
involved may include:
Help for new groups with 'how to do it', and help in making
the transition from a small group of people with an idea into
an organisation with a recognised structure.
Help for established groups who are struggling with policy
development or problems such as clashes between management
committee and paid staff or volunteers, questions of
membership and accountability, or difficult staff situations
such as redundancy or grievance procedures.
Help with grant aid applications, through information, advice
and the supply of grant aid forms on disk.
