Priory Street Nursery

Priory Street nursery is a project of York Council for Voluntary services and has been providing childcare in the community for 30 years.

The nursery operates from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm and offers full- and part-time day care for children aged 6 months to 5 years. We are Ofsted-registered and care for up to 18 children per session in one large play room which has integrated kitchen and toilet facilities. The children who attend nursery for a morning or afternoon session are provided with drinks and a healthy snack. Additionally, a two-course hot meal is served at lunchtime for children attending for a morning or full day session.

The nursery offers an inclusive, homely environment where children can play and learn together with easily accessible activities both indoors and outdoors in our newly renovated enclosed garden. Our fully qualified nursery practitioners have a good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation stage. Through a key worker system, practitioners are able to monitor children’s progress and plan to extend their interests and learning whilst also providing for and supporting their individual needs.
