Good practice and legal issues

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

Voluntary and community organisations must comply with the law in the same way as any other person or organisation. Organisations need to be aware of their responsibilities under the law, including:

  • Charity and/or company law depending on your organisation type
  • Health and safety law
  • Employment law if you employ staff
  • Other laws and regulations relevant to your work such as child protection, or safeguarding vulnerable adults.

Our Frequently Asked Questions page (FAQs) will point you in the right direction on some of the issues you may need to know about, or contact a CVS development officer (right) for your free organisational ‘Health Check’.
