Copmanthorpe FC are looking to recruit a volunteer Club Secretary- can you help?

The main purpose of this role is that of principal administrator for the club. The Club Secretary carries out or delegates all the administrative duties that enable the club and its members to function effectively.
The secretary and their assistant provide the main point of contact for people within and outside the club on just about every aspect of the club's activities.

Free website and social media support for charities

As a charity sector, we know better than anyone how tough it is doing incredible things on a shoestring budget. But did you know you could drum up even more volunteers and donations through social media, video and other online tools?

Google has teamed up with Media Trust and Charity Technology Trust to launch Grow Your Charity Online. There are stacks of free tools to try, and you could even get extra support from Google Grants. Better still, you don’t need to be a computer whiz to start seeing results.Check it out here.

NYBEP seek volunteers to help with 'Connecting Cultures' event

Connecting Cultures York is a free family learning day held at York High School on during half term on Wednesday 20th February 2013 from 10 - 2pm, with lots of interactive, fun filled family learning activities, and the aim of the event is to promote different cultures and communities; educating the city's residents, encouraging greater understanding and combating negative perceptions.

Ann is a supported volunteer. She comes in every Tuesday morning with Katy, her support worker, and takes a trolley of hot drinks and cakes around CVS.

Voluntary Sector Strategic Forum - join us

Did you know that York CVS runs the Voluntary Sector Strategic Forum?
This is a quarterly opportunity for voluntary sector leaders to come together to discuss relevant issues. Topics included the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Healthwatch, York Human Rights City and the new Leadership Bursary.
 
Membership is open to all, and regular attendees include Chief Executives of voluntary groups, chairs and trustees, and staff and volunteers who are the lead for a particular area of work in their organisation.

Acts of Leadership

When we are facing challenging economic times and what seem like difficulties on all fronts, it is easy to revert to describing leadership in  the toughest of language, with almost military connotations. Leaders need to be ‘tough’, ‘courageous’, ‘fighting their corner’. I am sure you have heard it all, and see it in the headlines every day.

Sad news - Mike Moran

The funeral service of Mike Moran was held at York Crematorium on Friday 1st February. Mike died peacefully at York Hospital on January 10th, aged 62 years.
