Help and Advice

York CVS  provides a range of free information and development services to help your group. These include:

Help with setting up a new voluntary or community group. Got a great idea but not sure what to do next? Advice on getting things going, legal structures, and funding.

Advice, information and support on organisational issues for new and existing groups -  including charity/company registration, project planning, funding advice, financial management, policies and good practice - by phone, email or face-to-face.

Regular information updates to help you keep up with what’s going on for the voluntary and community sector locally and nationally: Voluntary Voice newsletter published 10 times a year (free to CVS members); our website and e-mail networks and bulletins for special interest groups such as children’s organisations; mental health; learning disability.

Training for staff, volunteers and management committee members to help build your knowledge and skills. Details of our training can be found in our training programme; information about other training available locally can be found here http://www.nyfvo.org.uk/index.php/training-courses-programme.html (North Yorkshire Forum link) and here http://www.nyfvo.org.uk/index.php/directory.html (NYFVO directory of training providers)

An organisational ‘Health Check’ service, which can help you to identify if there are any areas of your organisation’s activities which need improvement in order to be ‘safe and legal’.

Support and training for management committees – tailored training sessions to help your committee tackle a specific issue; and consultancy to help develop larger projects. (May be charged for depending on time commitment.)
