Could your organisation benefit from working with volunteers?

Having volunteers involved in your organisation can really make a difference- both to them and to you. York Volunteer Centre can advise you on how to find volunteers and how to support them once they're in place.

Finding volunteers

If you have a volunteering opportunity available and want to publicise it you can complete the volunteer opportunities form and return it to Natasha Almond at the Volunteer Centre. To help you complete the form please download this help document. Alternatively, if you already have experience of working with volunteers, you can go ahead and register your volunteering opportunity on the Do-it website.

Volunteering opportunities for young people

Through the new Feel Involved project, you could get a grant to offer volunteering opportunities to young people between the ages of 14 and 16. More information can be found on the Feel Involved page.

Grants for widening access to volunteering

Are you trying to make your volunteering opportunities more accessible to wider range of people? York CVS will be distributing small grants (up to £5k), on behalf of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, to volunteering organizations wanting to develop or pilot initiatives that will enable people to overcome barriers to volunteering. To find out more download our information sheet and application form. The second grants round opens 21st July 2010, and closes 30th September 2010.

Using the Year of Volunteering logo

We hope that the Feel logo (above) will become a recognised emblem for volunteering in the City. We are encouraging organisations using volunteers in York to promote volunteering by using the Year of Volunteering logo alongside their own branding. The Volunteer Centre will also be creating a stock of promotional materials carrying the logo that can be lent to organizations for promotional events (banners, display boards, etc.).

Please register your interest by filling out the logo request form and emailing it to Liz or Natasha at the Volunteer Centre, or phone us on 01904 621133. Once registered we will send you a copy of the logo and the guidance for its use.

Spreading the word

If you know of any other organisations that are interested in supporting volunteering then please let them know about the Year of Volunteering and this website or send them a copy of our information letter.
